VW 1.7 TD Custom Engine Brackets

I designed these custom brackets for a VW 1.7 TD engine using a 3D scan. Scanning the engine bay and mounting points first meant I could model the brackets around real geometry rather than estimates. I designed them to spec with a safety factor of 3, so they can take three times the normal load without deforming. I also tuned the design so the brackets’ natural frequency stays clear of the engine’s vibration range, which keeps them from resonating. A third-party 5-axis CNC shop machined and post-processed the final parts. Everything fit like a glove, and the result exceeded what the client expected.
